Terms & Conditions

Effective Date: September 15, 2026
Last Updated: September 15, 2026

Welcome to hilariecox.com. These Terms & Conditions govern your use of this website, The First Thread, Pattern Weaving services, programs, materials, and other services offered by Hilarie Cox.

By accessing this website, participating in an experience, purchasing a service, or using materials provided through this website, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

Website Use

This website is provided for informational, educational, and personal reflection purposes.

You may access and use the website for your own personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to use the website or its content in a way that violates applicable law, interferes with the operation or security of the website, or infringes upon the rights of Hilarie Cox or others.

I reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the website, experiences, programs, or services at any time.

Personal Reflection and Educational Services

The content, Pattern Weaving services, The First Thread, programs, exercises, questions, and other experiences offered through this website are intended to support personal reflection, self-discovery, education, and exploration.

They are not medical care, psychotherapy, mental health treatment, diagnosis, legal advice, financial advice, or a substitute for services provided by a licensed professional.

You are responsible for your own choices, actions, decisions, and well-being. No particular personal, professional, financial, health, relationship, or other outcome is promised or guaranteed.

If you have concerns that require medical, psychological, legal, financial, or other licensed professional assistance, you should seek support from an appropriately qualified professional.

The First Thread and Artificial Intelligence

The First Thread is an interactive reflection experience that uses artificial intelligence provided by OpenAI and technology hosted through Replit.

Artificial intelligence can produce incomplete, inaccurate, unexpected, or inappropriate responses. The First Thread is designed as a reflective experience, not as an authoritative source of information or professional advice.

You should use your own judgment when considering anything generated during the experience.

Please do not enter passwords, financial account information, Social Security numbers, medical records, or other highly sensitive personal information into The First Thread.

Information provided through The First Thread is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

Paid Services and Programs

Descriptions, pricing, availability, and included features of paid services and programs will be provided on the applicable website page, booking page, proposal, invoice, or other purchase information.

Payment is required according to the terms presented at the time of purchase.

Because preparation for your work may begin before we meet, the value of a service is not limited to the amount of time spent together during a live session. Preparation, review, materials, resources, and other work performed in connection with your engagement may be part of the service you purchase.

Cancellation and Rescheduling

Appointments require at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule.

With at least 48 hours' notice, you may reschedule an appointment up to three times without penalty.

If you cancel or request to reschedule with less than 48 hours' notice, you will receive one grace reschedule. After that grace reschedule has been used, additional late cancellations may result in forfeiture of the affected session and the amount paid for that session.

If you do not attend a scheduled appointment and have not provided notice, you will receive one opportunity to reschedule. A subsequent no-show may result in forfeiture of the affected session and the amount paid for that session.

I understand that unexpected circumstances happen and reserve the discretion to make reasonable exceptions when appropriate.

If I need to reschedule a session, your payment will remain fully credited toward the rescheduled session. If a reasonable alternative cannot be arranged, you may request a refund for the affected undelivered service.

Refunds for Individual Services

You may request a full refund before your initial discovery session or call takes place.

After the initial discovery session or call has taken place, but before your next scheduled service session, you may request a 50% refund.

Once the primary purchased service or session has been completed, payments for that service are non-refundable.

These terms recognize that preparation, review, discovery, and other work may occur before the primary session itself.

Multi-Session Programs and Early Termination

If you purchase a multi-session program and decide to end your participation before completing the program, you may be eligible for a partial refund.

The refund will be calculated by subtracting the value of services and products already received from the amount you have paid.

This may include completed sessions, discovery or preparation work, assessments, reports, resources, materials, digital products, or other components of the program that have already been provided.

If your program was purchased at a package or bundled price, services and products already received will be valued at their regular standalone prices, rather than at a prorated portion of the discounted package price.

Any eligible remaining balance will then be refunded. A refund will never exceed the amount you actually paid.

If the regular standalone value of the services and products you have already received equals or exceeds the amount you have paid, no refund will be due.

Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the original content available through hilariecox.com and materials created and provided by Hilarie Cox are owned by Hilarie Cox or used with appropriate permission.

This may include written content, articles, graphics, photographs, exercises, prompts, worksheets, reports, recordings, presentations, course and program materials, The First Thread content, and original Pattern Weaving materials.

Original expression may be protected by copyright and other applicable intellectual property laws. Copyright protects original expression but does not, by itself, provide exclusive rights over an underlying idea, method, process, or system. U.S. Copyright Office

Access to this website or purchase of a service does not transfer ownership of these materials to you.

Unless I provide written permission or the use is otherwise permitted by law, you may not reproduce, republish, distribute, sell, license, publicly display, commercially exploit, or represent my protected materials as your own.

Materials provided to you as part of a paid service or program are for your personal use unless I expressly state otherwise.

Pattern Weaving and Proprietary Materials

Pattern Weaving is the name used for services and experiences developed and offered by Hilarie Cox.

Certain concepts or methods themselves may not be protected by copyright, while Hilarie's original written, visual, instructional, and other creative expression of those concepts may be protected. U.S. Copyright Office

Nothing on this website grants permission to copy or commercially exploit Hilarie's protected Pattern Weaving materials, including original written content, exercises, facilitation materials, diagrams, prompts, training materials, client materials, program materials, or other original works.

You may not use protected Pattern Weaving materials to create, market, teach, sell, license, or distribute a substantially copied commercial offering without prior written permission.

References to Pattern Weaving on this website do not constitute authorization to represent yourself as trained, certified, licensed, endorsed, or authorized by Hilarie Cox to provide Pattern Weaving services.

Artificial Intelligence, Automated Extraction, and Content Use

Except where permitted by applicable law or expressly authorized by me in writing, you may not use automated systems to systematically extract, reproduce, or compile protected content from this website for commercial purposes.

You may not knowingly submit or reproduce substantial portions of my protected materials for the purpose of creating a competing commercial product, training material, course, service, content library, or dataset.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to restrict uses that cannot lawfully be restricted, including rights or exceptions available under applicable law.

Trademarks and Brand Names

Names, logos, branding, and other source-identifying materials used in connection with my business and services may be protected under applicable trademark law.

Use of a name or mark on this website does not grant you a license to use it in connection with your own products or services.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office distinguishes trademark protection from copyright protection and notes that rights may arise through use, while federal registration can provide broader protection. USPTO

Testimonials and Results

Testimonials and client experiences shared on this website represent the experiences of the individuals who provided them.

They are not guarantees that you will experience the same results. Personal growth and transformation are individual, and results depend on many factors unique to each person.

Third-Party Services and Links

This website and my services may use or link to third-party platforms, including Hostinger, Replit, OpenAI, Brevo, Zoom, payment providers, and other services.

I am not responsible for the availability, security, accuracy, content, policies, or practices of third-party services. Your use of those services may also be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Hilarie Cox will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, this website, The First Thread, materials, programs, or services.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

Indemnification

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to be responsible for claims, losses, or expenses arising from your unlawful use of this website or materials, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of another person's rights.

Changes to These Terms

I may update these Terms & Conditions as my website, services, programs, technology, or business practices evolve.

When changes are made, the updated Terms will be posted on this page and the “Last Updated” date will be revised.

For a paid service already purchased, material changes to these website Terms will not retroactively change the specific payment, cancellation, or refund terms that applied to your purchase unless required by law or agreed to by both of us.

Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
